Happy 15th Birthday, My Sister Knits!

Fifteen years ago, in June, My Sister Knits opened its doors and became not only a local yarn shop but a sought after destination yarn shop!  We are going to celebrate!

Since those days My Sister Knits has grown from its location upstairs in the carriage house to taking over the whole little building located in the back garden of Julie’s house on Mountain Street in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Her mother came up with the name and a few years ago her sister Diana (who knits!) moved here to become Julie’s partner and right hand woman!

My Sister Knits is a labor of love and is Julie’s passion.  It’s a one-of-a-kind welcoming place where knitters and crocheters not only buy yarn and accessories but gather to knit or crochet with others, often making new friends!

As of this writing, the details are still being worked out but we want to let everyone know to expect special events and general merrymaking on and around Saturday, June 15!  Mark your calendars now to be sure you are free to join us!

We are bringing in a talented knitter, designer, and teacher for this special anniversary.  She is one of our own, a valued staff member who moved to Vermont a several years ago. If you are a long time customer of My Sister Knits you may remember our knitting guru, Kate Salomon.  If you haven’t met her, you are in for a treat! Kate has an enjoyable and knowledgeable way of teaching that will leave you wanting more!

Kate will teach a class Saturday morning and another one Saturday afternoon.  Watch for detailed birthday party plans to be announced both in the shop and by email.  Kate’s classes will fill up quickly so be prepared to jump on them when they become available!

All of us at the shop are delighted to be knee deep in preparations for this significant milestone in My Sister Knits’ history!
