Coming straight to us from Lindsay and Jordan English in Tampa, Florida is our newest yarn, The Fiber Seed Sprout!Lindsay started this company in her grandmother's kitchen in 2012, with a dream to create an all American made yarn; from the sheep, to the superwash process, to the dyes used. After graduating with an art degree in 2008, she taught herself to knit and found her way into a LYS where she eventually became an employee. It was through this shop that she learned to dye yarn. She has an extreme passion for all things fiber and eagerly learned to crochet, weave, and spin with the aim of sharing this love with others. Dyeing yarn was the next step and is a natural offshoot of her fiber curiosity. She created her small, family owned, environmentally conscious company and is living her dream along with her husband and young son!Her yarns are brightly colored to reflect what she sees under the brilliant Florida sun.She dyes her trios, which are the bulk of what we have in the shop, using two techniques. With her 'short striping', one color is dominant and one will pop, while her 'long striping' has the colors split into mostly even sections. Be sure to check this out when you're choosing your yarn!We love introducing yarns to our shop that are made by small independent companies using US sourced materials! We feel it is vital to support the sheep farmers, mills, and creative minds that produce the yarn which brings us so much pleasure.Fiber Seed Sprout is a fingering weight with 90% superwash soft merino wool and 10% nylon which gives it memory and bounce; perfect for socks! A quick search on Ravelry reveals that it also looks phenomenal when used for shawls, cowls, hats, and mitts.Come into the shop to see the bold, vibrant colors that Lindsay has created for yourself!
