We have added a new class to the schedule!
Open the door to a world of exciting and beautiful creations by learning to crochet. In our Learn to Crochet Class, you will learn three basic techniques, slip knot, chain, and single crochet, while enjoying a friendly, comfortable environment. No experience necessary. It's so fun and easy. Crochet creates beautifully delicate things, and is great for adding embellishment to your next knitting or beading project. There is more to crochet out there than your grandmother's afghan, although those are great too.
The fiber world has seen an increase in crochet popularity lately. There are new books, products, and articles in our favorite magazines all targeted towards crocheters. One of the most popular themes is the old standby granny square made new and modern. One of our favorite blogs, Purl Bee, recently featured a pattern called the Giant, Giant Granny Square Blanket. Purl Bee always has great free patterns that take the latest trends in style and fiber into account. This blanket shows how beautiful and modern the granny square can be!
Closer to home, one of our own has caught the crochet bug. Danielle has been crocheting up a storm lately! One of her newest creations is Molly’s Rug. It is based off of a rug that Julie crocheted a long time ago and that Molly, our lovely little shop dog, has taken over as her own. I’m sure that many of you have come to the shop in the afternoon (prime naptime) to find Molly curled up on our rug. Danielle has made a few in Malabrigo’s Rasta, a super bulky, 100% merino wool yarn that comes in bright hand-dyed colors. Not only is it beautiful and functional, but it crochets up quickly!
If you have run across any crochet patterns that look fun, but you are not yet a crocheter yourself, call and sign up for our new class. Call soon before it fills up!
