Sometimes a pattern comes to our attention and we all become smitten. Dawn and Kate both just recently finished a delicious lace cowl pattern designed by Hilary Smith Callis. Her Adama cowl is cleverly written so that the pattern is begun by working back and forth, effectively creating short rows that provide the generous volume to the front of the cowl. After several rows, you transition to working in the round creating a shawl that wraps snuggly around your shoulders without any trailing ends. (This construction is similar to her Starshower and Appia cowls). The majority of the cowl is done in a simple diamond lace pattern, with bands of Stockinette and Garter stitch breaking things up. The pattern provides lace directions in written and charted form so that you can work the pattern to your preference. It calls for worsted weight yarn and knits up in no time. A quiet day at home on the couch could result in a completed project! We can't recommend this pattern more enthusiastically. We hope that you'll give it a try.
