Julie Asselin's yarn has arrived!

Next Tuesday evening at our Community Knit Night, we will be unveiling a new delivery of Julie Asselin's Leizu Fingering Gradient Sets that arrived in the shop this week.asselin-gradients3These stunning skeins are hand dyed by our favorite French "Canadienne" and her darling husband Jean-Francois. They have created skeins that are mouthwatering in their intensity.  And Julie's color sense in spot on!We received five stunning color combinations.  Clockwise from the top is: Tempete (ranging from turquoise to charcoal),  Fresh (beautiful jewel tones), Souvenir (soft to deep grey), Mirabell (chartreuse to grey through a range of olive greens) and Vendage (pale to deep rose).This fingering weight yarn is a blend of 90% Merino and 10% Silk, making it wonderfully saturated with color that shines and glows with light.  The five machine washable 1 0z. mini skeins add up to a generous total of 525 yards making it perfect for the ombre shawls that are so popular on Ravelry.We have been busy scanning Ravelry's pattern suggestions for some terrific pattern options and each of us has found a favorite:Amelia is smitten with the Allira Shawl designed by Ambah O'Brien,  Jenny loves Babycakes by JumperCables, Kimberly loves Stephen West's Daybreak shawl, Connie's vote goes to Grace Ann's Gradient, and both Carol and Kate both love the Everyday Shawl designed by Jenny F.We also received five coordinating skeins of Leizu Fingering Yarn that are meant to be paired with the gradient sets for the shawls that Amelia, Carol and Kate have selected.  These could be added as a main color or to extend one of the gradient shades into a larger pattern.leizuFrom left to right: Birch, Tidal, Jardin des Tuileries, Echo and Cailloux.  Each of these skeins include 425 yards of the same wool/silk blend yarn used in the gradient sets.We hope that you'll be able to join the fun as we unveil these beauties on Tuesday evening next week.  We'll have additional pattern suggestions to share with you!
