Kate's Gold Rush shawl is off her needles!

Last month we shared details about a new KAL that started on November 24th.  Amy Christoffer's Gold Rush Shawl is a stunning pattern, and the lovely folks at Green Mountain Spinnery organized a knit along on their group page on Raverly.Kate cast on for a version knit up with three and a half skeins of Earl Grey Alpaca Elegance.  Typically, Kate is the last of us to be interested in lace work and we were surprised that she wanted to try something new.She cast off and blocked her shawl last week and was able to share photos with us of her shawl.  (It will be featured in the shop as a sample in early January). coal 03Her finished shawl has the blocked dimensions of 62 inches by 31 and is generous enough to really snuggle into. coal 01This pattern is created from the top down with a garter tab cast on and involves following four charts.  It is a wonderful option to dive into next month as the bustle of the holiday season diminishes and you may find yourself with quiet time to enjoy knitting.Kate really enjoyed spending quiet mornings at her kitchen table working through the charts with her highlighter tape and using a large handful of stitch markers to keep track of repeats. We have some delicious skeins of Alpaca Elegance in stock as well as the tweedy 100% wool yarn that is specified in the pattern: Mewesicmsk mewesicWe hope that you can visit the shop soon and let us know how we can get you started on a project that can stretch your knitting muscles a bit and inspire you to try something new!
