Quick and easy

We've recently had a number of customers ask us about holiday knit ideas.  Every year we try to find some fresh terrific projects that are quick to knit for last minute gift ideas.  Dawn recently finished an appealing cowl that meets (and exceeds) all of our expectations for a great holiday knit. The Magnum Cowl can be created in the course of an afternoon's worth of stitching.  The simple two row pattern can be managed while chatting with friends or watching TV.  It is perfect for beginners.  It was created with just two skeins of Madelinetosh A.S.A.P.  And last but not least, it looks wonderful! When we covet the finished project, we know it will be a gift worth giving. magnum 1You could even dress it up a bit with one of the terrific clasps from Jul Designs.  "This leather closure screws into knitted, crocheted, handwoven, and sewn garments making it removable for laundering and a striking alternative to conventional toggles, buttons, and frogs."  It is a fun and stylish alternative to a shawl pin. magnum 2To complete her cowl, Dawn used US 15 needles.  She cast on 62 stitches, and joined to work in the round.  She alternated between knit and purl rows creating a lush garter stitch fabric that is dense and soft.  She continued until she had just enough yarn to cast off.  After weaving in her ends and a quick block, her cowl is ready to go.We have a wonderful selection of bulky yarns that would work beautifully for this cowl.  A quick visit to the shop will get you started and you'll have handmade gifts that you can be proud to gift away in no time!  We look forward to seeing you soon.
