It has been a week of shawls

Kate wasn't the only one of our friends to recently finish a shawl.  Rachel stopped by the shop last week to share her work with us.  As you'll see, she has been busy! IMG_1310This stunner modeled by Jenny is the Drachenfels shawl (designed by Melanie Berg) with three skeins of Sunshine Sport and US 6 & 8 needles."It’s worked in garter stitch from tip to edge, then neatly finished with I-cord bind-off.  Asymmetrical increases create an elongated triangle shape.  And the fun play of stripes create an additional sense of texture when it is all wrapped up around you. Drachenfels 02But that is not all!  Rachel also brought us this... shawl 02jpgWe LOVE her Chadwick shawl designed by shawl specialist Stephen West, it is just beautiful!  We love how small changes in the construction can make such a dramatically different design.  She created this beauty with three skeins of Malabrigo Finito on a US 5 needle. And the fun didn't stop there.  Rachel also had a completed Forest Foliage shawl to show us. forest foliageThis vivid showstopper is part of Alana Dakos' second Botanical Knits collection.  Rachel's breathtaking lace work is crisp and yet cozy because she chose to use two skeins of Madelinetosh Merino Light.  What a stunner!Rachel you have wowed us to say the least. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous work.We hope that you too are inspired by her stitches and that they may encourage you to try your hand at one of the more ambitious shawls that might be in your wish list of projects.  We would love to help get you started, so let us know how we can!
