Learn the Granny Square basics! Granny squares can be found in MANY crochet patterns. They are most often used in blankets but are also used in shawls, beanies, cardigans and even sweaters. In this class you’ll learn the how to make a traditional granny square, how to change colors, and how to join your squares to make a blanket or wrap/shawl.

You will need:

Hook: G - 4.25mm

(Will also need a yarn needle for joining squares)

Yarn: Worsted or DK,

Level: Beginner. If you’ve got a basic understanding of crochet, how to hold your hook, keep even tension, few basic stitches (ch, dc) then you’ll do great. We will be using CH, SLST, & DC stitches.

Skills taught:

Magic Circle: The Magic circle is a very useful skill used in anything crocheted in the round: beanies, doilies, amigurumi stuffed animals, rugs, etc. We will use this skill to begin the squares.

Invisible Join: After making a few granny squares, I will teach how to invisibly join the squares using a yarn needle.

Please sign up by June 11th.
