Join Julie J. to create the Emma Sweater using the Cocoknits method. In this class, we will review the CocoKnits Sweater Workshop book, and how to apply the author’s (Julie Weismann) special sweater construction methods for all of the sweater patterns found in the book.  We will focus on the Emma sweater - version A or C, you chose which one you want to make. This is a great place to start for beginners to the CocoKnits method, and for any beginner sweater knitters.  You can easily adapt what you learn from the Emma sweater, to make all the other patterns in the book.

Note: If you chose to make version C with the pockets, there are several options for finishing these: You can sew these by hand, sew with a machine, you can knit your pockets, or not have any pockets!

We will learn Julie W’s special “KLL”, “KLR”, “PLL”, and “PLR” from the book.  We will also learn the special binding-off techniques, and underarm grafting for finishing your sweater neatly.

We will fill in your workbook page with all the necessary math to make the sweater size that you want. Don’t let this intimidate you, it’s easier than you think!

Supplies you’ll need: Yarn: Book: The CocoKnits Sweater Workshop – you must buy your own book for this class!  (All the patterns are in the book, so you do not need to buy an extra pattern on Ravelry, and you will have tons of great patterns to enjoy).

Yarn: Brooklyn Tweed Quarry – (enough skeins for your size recommended in the book).

Version A: US size 11 is recommended for body, and size 7 for bind-off (swatch and check your gauge)

Version C: US size 11, and 9 for ribbing (swatch and check your gauge)

Stitch Markers: You will need the large round CocoKnits colored stitch markers. (6 markers big enough for your size 11 needles – in colors red, green, yellow, blue, purple, and orange.

Additional: Spare yarn for holding live stitches, tapestry needle, and scissors

For Version C only: you will need buttons and pocket materials.

Homework: Buy your supplies!

Swatch to get gauge according to pattern.

Bring a swatch to class with live stitches (do not bind-off).  We will use your swatch to practice the special stitches that you need to learn from the book.
