Wednesday Skill Sessions(May)

5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22 & 5/29

For the month of May, we are offering free one-hour long skill sessions; touching on some techniques that are often needed in our knitting. For all of these sessions, please bring light colored worsted weight yarn and appropriate needles to practice with.
5/1 - Weaving in Ends - Tiina
5/8 - Old Norwegian Cast On - Jenny H. This cast on is an excellent way to get a stretchy edge that retains its shape. It creates a perfect edging for socks, hats and gloves.
Bring a light colored, worsted weight yarn and US size 7 or size 8 to learn and practice this technique.
5/15 - Icelandic Bind-Off - Jenny H. The Icelandic Bind Off gives you a stretchy edging perfect for triangular shawls or the neckline on baby sweaters.
Homework before the class - Cast on 20-30 stitches using a light colored worsted weight yarn on US size 7 or size 8 needles. Knit 4 rows. Make a stockinette swatch that is 2” long.

5/22 - Turkish Cast-On - Erika
5/29- Duplicate Stitch - Jenny H. The Duplicate Stitch is a perfect way to embellish your hand knits. You will be able to use this to create many different patterns on the surface of your stockinette fabric.
Homework before the class - Cast on 20-30 stitches using a light colored worsted weight yarn on US size 7 or size 8 needles. Knit 4 rows. Make a stockinette swatch that is 2” long. Knit 4 rows.
