We have some beautiful mohair blends in the shop that will probably start a lifelong love of mohair for you, and all of them are going to be available tomorrow at 30% off.
We have a generous selection of lace weight mohair and silk blends that create finished projects that are as soft as a cloud and just as light. This fiber is great for travel projects as the skeins weigh next to nothing and create finished projects that will add only ounces to your luggage. Our favorites include: Rowan’s Kid Silk Haze and Kid Silk Haze Stripe, as well as Cascade’s Kid Seta and Kid Seta Noir which has a metallic glimmer to it that will add some shimmer to your finished project.
I love to work with multiple strands of laceweight mohair to create lush vibrant projects that have more substance to them without much additional weight. Double stranding mohair with other yarns can create beautiful fabrics with a soft halo that make your finished project more interesting. One of my current favorite designs that I wrote about last month uses this technique.
We have a sample in the shop of Churchmouse’s Inside Out Cowl that was created with two complimentary colors of Kid Silk Haze. It is as soft as you would imagine and very, very light.
And they have several other pattern ideas that would be beautiful knit up in these lace weight options: their Shoulder Cozy combines Rowan Summer Tweed with Kid Silk Haze for a light summer wrap with a soft halo that is very feminine. We also love their Mohair Bias Loop that is a Ravelry favorite with more than 900 finished projects and identified as a perfect travel accessory.
One last Churchmouse project suggestion could be knit up with our beautiful variegated Aran weight Mohair from Mountain Colors. The Simple Mohair Wrap & Afghan will knit up as quick as a wink and create an heirloom family throw that is sure to keep you warm on the coldest of winter nights.
Come see the beautiful samples we have in the shop that may help inspire your next creation.
