Some of you know about the secret stash of yarn that is stored behind the swinging doors upstairs in the shop. If you haven’t opened the doors to explore the unexpected treasures, it is worth a special trip to the shop. A couple of weeks ago, as we were concluding our inventory, I rediscovered a wonderful yarn that we are discounting this week as the Deal of the Day: 30% off Karabella’s Superyak yarn.
It is described as a 12-ply bulky weight blend of 50% yak and 50% extra fine merino. I found it to be closer to an Aran weight and was charmed by how light the yarn is. It is an almost felted looking single-ply fiber that is warm on the lap as your project grows. I cast on for Quince and Company’s Skadi, inspired by the chocolate brown version of the same pattern that Danielle created earlier this fall with the Fibre Company’s Tundra. Like Danielle, I elected to skip the pocket that the pattern calls for. The finished project used 5 skeins of the superyak and is deliciously warm while being very light for the volume of fabric that is created. The cowl is a pleasure to snuggle into and it is worth popping into the shop to try it on.
The yarn is available in some beautiful neutrals and some marled colorways that are worth checking out. Stop in this Wednesday to take advantage of this week's deal and let's find a perfect project for you and some yak!
